When does Jersey Shore Season 5 start?

New details have been leaked this week about when Jersey Shore Season 5 will start. The fifth season of the show wrapped production in Seaside Heights in August, but according to sources Jersey Shore Season 5 will premiere on Thursday, February 9, 2012.  

 

MTV has ordered 13 episodes of the show for the fifth season which sets up the Jersey Shore Season 5 finale to air on May 10, 2012. The Jersey Shore 5 premiere and finale dates mean MTV's most successful series ever will span two ratings periods commonly called 'sweeps.'

Jersey Shore Seasons 1 and 3 were also winter series but started in December and January respectively. With the Jersey Shore Season 5 beginning the second week in February it means there will be 15 weeks (about 3 and a half months) between the Jersey Shore Season 4 finale on October 20, 2011 and the Jersey Shore Season 5 premiere.

An MTV spokesperson did not immediately respond when asked for more information about when Jersey Shore Season 5 will start.

Jersey Shore disliked by majority of state residents

Jersey Shore is bad for the state - according to a new poll of New Jersey residents. Sixty seven percent of those polled think the MTV reality show about 8 20-and-30-somethings living at the shore is bad for the state and its image.  Even the majority of voters under 35 years old - Jersey Shore's main demographic - agreed the show is not good for New Jersey.

Almost three quarters of those polled believed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie 'did the right thing' when he vetoed the film tax credit approved for the producers of Jersey Shore.  “Garden State voters agree overwhelmingly with Gov. Christopher Christie’s decision to slam the door on Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the ‘Jersey Shore’ crew,” Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.


Sixteen percent of those polled in the Quinnipiac University study, however, said they did not think Jersey Shore was bad for New Jersey. A full 20% had not heard of the MTV reality show.
