When does Jersey Shore Season 5 start? Details on when to set your DVR!

New details have been leaked about when Jersey Shore Season 5 will start. The fifth season of the show wrapped production in Seaside Heights in August, but according to sources Jersey Shore Season 5 will premiere on Thursday, February 9, 2012. 

MTV has ordered 13 episodes of the show for the fifth season which sets up the Jersey Shore Season 5 finale to air on May 10, 2012.  The Jersey Shore 5 premiere and finale dates mean MTV's most successful series ever will span two ratings periods commonly called 'sweeps.'

Jersey Shore Seasons 1 and 3 were also winter series but started in December and January respectively. With the Jersey Shore Season 5 beginning the second week in February it means there will be 15 weeks (about 4 months) between the Jersey Shore Season 4 finale on October 20, 2011 and the Jersey Shore Season 5 premiere.

An MTV spokesperson did not immediately respond when asked for more information about when Jersey Shore Season 5 will start.

The Situation considers leaving Jersey Shore...again

Jersey Shore Season 5 almost had a major situation...or should we say didn't have a Situation? Examiner.com has learned the MTV reality star - known for stirring up trouble between the roommates - nearly quit the show before filming Jersey Shore Season 5. 

In the October 20th episode of Jersey Shore (Season 4 Episode 12) The Situation considers quitting the reality show after returning from Italy.  In the 'Caio Italy' episode - which is the Jersey Shore 4 finale - the gang prepares to leave Florence and head back to Seaside Heights. But tensions between Mike and the rest of the roommates leave him doubtful that he'll be joining them back at the Jersey shore.
